Privatization of Public Education: The Real Weapons of Mass Destruction
The cost of finding out that Saddam Hussein, as most of the world suspected, harbored no stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction has cost us well over $100 billion in the past year. This sum is greater than the total amount budgeted for NIH, NSF, and the entire U.S. Department of Education, combined. This massive expenditure comes at a time when state-funded universities are facing dire econo...
متن کاملThe Sign-Real Spectral Radius for Real Tensors
In this paper a new quantity for real tensors, the sign-real spectral radius, is defined and investigated. Various characterizations, bounds and some properties are derived. In certain aspects our quantity shows similar behavior to the spectral radius of a nonnegative tensor. In fact, we generalize the Perron Frobenius theorem for nonnegative tensors to the class of real tensors.

the fundamental elements of nature, namely earth, water, air and sunshine should be in a healthy state, well balanced with the criteria of equilibrium and untainted so that the environment would remain pleasant and lively. hence, there will be plant, animal and human in a existential balance. man himself is the major polluter and destructor of environment. the environment, in turn, is a large c...
متن کاملTotal knee arthroplasty for neuropathic joint disease after severe bone destruction eroded the tibial tuberosity.
This article describes a patient in whom total knee arthroplasty was performed for neuropathic joint disease secondary to diabetes mellitus after severe bone destruction eroded the tibial tuberosity. At initial examination, radiographs of the knee showed bone destruction in the medial and anterior regions of the tibia, and fine bone fragments were seen in the joint. Conservative therapy was per...
متن کاملUbiquitination: RING for destruction?
Targeted protein proteolysis is increasingly understood to be an important general mechanism by which cells regulate protein levels — and consequently their functions at specific times. In eukaryotic cells, the main mechanism for such control involves the specific covalent modification by polyubiquitin, which labels target proteins for proteolysis and subsequent degradation. There are many know...
